How to migrate users from on-prem Skype for business to Teams if the server is unavailable

Hi,

Two years ago we had Skype for Business on-prem and most users automatically migrated to Teams. Now it seems some users are still on SfB (Directory status: On-premises) and if we try to upgrade them to Teams Online we get an error:

User is homed on-premises in a Skype for Business or Lync deployment. On-premises users can be upgraded to Teams using 'Move-CsUser' in the on-premises tools.

As it happened two years ago, we no longer have a SfB server so we don't have the ability to migrate users with Move-CsUser through PowerShell..

Is there any other option to move users without on-prem SfB server to Teams ?

    Hi,

so here is workaround if you don't have SfB server anymore...

For the user in on-prem SfB, you need to change user attribute in AD.

    Attribute: msRTCSIP-DeploymentLocator
Need to change value SRV: to sipfed.online.lync.com
Run AD connect synchronization, or just wait for scheduled sync...User's image

Now, the user will be TeamsOnly :)

    Hi @Sinisa Babic

I am afraid there is no alternative option to move users without on-prem Skype for Business Server tools. As of July 31, 2022, to move users between an on-premises deployment and the cloud, you must be using the following minimum version of either Skype for Business Server or Lync Server:
