Cleaning up AD after moving from Lync to teams

Hi all,

have recently started at a new company - and there is a great deal of old stuff that has never been cleaned up in their AD.

They used to have OCS, then Lync - and now they are completely on teams - and i would like the clean up the un-used AD groups, accounts, permissions, and directory entries.

I am aware of articles like this one http://blog.armgasys.com/?p=320 .... but im wondering if there is an officially supported way of cleaning this stuff up? Keep in mind, there are no OCS or Lync (or S4B) servers left in the org - they are all long gone from what i can tell.

That's not what i asked mate.

i would like the clean up the un-used AD groups, accounts, permissions, and directory entries.

There are no users with with Lync/S4B attributes left on their accounts. That's not what i was asking.

To clean up unused Active Directory groups and accounts, you can use the PowerShell command "Search-ADAccount" with the appropriate parameters.

You can modify the parameters to search for other types of accounts or to use a different time period. Once you've identified the unused accounts, you can either disable or delete them as appropriate. Similarly, you can use the "Get-ADGroup" command to list all groups and then manually review them to identify and remove any that are no longer needed.
