We made a small change to one of the configurations files (basic description change) and now this error without any explanation:
Failed. Operation failed, exception: Failed to set up repository configuration during publish..
How to debug and fix this?

I have also been running into the same error since yesterday, even with previously worked packages.
@Jay van Zyl and @Freek Berson can you email at AzCommunity[at]microsoft[dot]com ATTN: Ryan included with your subscription id and link to this post. This could be a related issue but need to check.
In the meantime, I created a support request with the Partner Center team. They confirmed there was a backend issue that was fixed today. In my environment, it started to work again and the same package successfully passed the automated validation step.
@Freek Berson can you share your SR # so I can confirm the issue I located?
The Support team did respond and it's fixed now. I'm back up and running, thanks.
