Hi all, I accidentally deleted microsoft authenticator app. I use it for my work account. I've re-installed it and somehow I can't sign into the app on my phone.

It shows two choices :

  1. Approve a request on my microsoft authenticator app. Which then ask me to open the app (when I'm in the app already) and enter certain number. I can't do this so I choose option 2.
  2. Use a verification code Also asking me to enter the code displayed in the mobile app while I am in the app.

So, in attempt to save my authenticator app, I also thought maybe this is the way to get the QR Code, I deleted the work account from my laptop and then signed in again. Unfortunately, now it ask me to go the microsoft authenticator app on mobile device again - which I can't use. So now, I can't sign in from both my phone and laptop.

I also have no other way to sign-in because I haven't set up the MFA. Then I tried to sign-in from my browser and set up MFA, but again it ask me to enter certain number shown in microsoft authenticator app on my mobile device. What should I do to save my account?

In the absence of a backup for restoration, the sole recourse is to utilize the account recovery methods provided by each service provider. The Microsoft Authenticator functions solely as a code generator.
