Hello.

I'm trying to install ASH H2 in a nested environment. I have an error message on the cluster deployment: Type 'InvokeEnvironmentChecker' of Role 'DeploymentService' raised an exception: Fail to initialize cloud deployment: Unable to find a default server with Active Directory Web Services

The service is running on my DC. Do the ASH node need to be register to AD before cluster creation?

Thanks for your support.

Medhi

    Hi @Medhi ABDI ,

No, nodes should not be joined to the domain prior to deploying 23H2. Joining the nodes to the domain is part of the deployment process, and joining them to the domain prior will cause a deployment failure.

That said, testing the 23H2 deployment in a virtualized environment presents its own challenges. Based on the error message, it seems the Environment Checker is unable to reach your domain controller. Some things you can check are:

    • can the nodes resolve the domain
    • can the nodes connect to a domain controller
    • as this is a nested virtualized environment, you may need to allow MAC spoofing on the virtual NICs and also trunk any virtual NICs that may pass VLAN tags

More information on setting up a virtual deployment can be found here.

    Hope this helps!
