Need to migrate vendor specific VM from US region to EU region

Right now, we have one VM (image provided to us from vendor) that is sitting in US East Region, and we would like to move and/or duplicate the VM to the EU North Region.

We have had some difficulty in doing so. We have tried:

  • Moving the VM to the region
  • Moving disks from region to region
  • Moving snapshot from region to region

We believe the difficulty stems in that we originally received an image from our vendor for the specific app that we are using. It needs to have the same configuration.

We have already created a new VNET in the EU North Region.

    Hi @Walker blake

Check if the vendor's image has any restrictions that prevent it from being copied or moved to another region. Sometimes, images provided by vendors are restricted to certain regions or have specific licensing terms.

Consider using Azure Site Recovery, ASR can replicate your VMs from one region to another and handle the orchestration and management of migration.
