MCM v2309.

We would like to start releasing what is needed to upgrade Windows 10 systems to Windows 11.

Which of the following should we release?

  1. "Upgrade to Windows 11 (business editions) en-us x64".

or

  1. "Windows 11, version 23H2 x64 2024-05B".

We were thinking about releasing option number 1; or can the upgrade to Windows 11 also be done by releasing only option number 2 ?

Option number 1, we noticed would upgrade to version "22000(21H2)" of Windows 11, while option number 2, if usable for upgrade, would upgrade to version "22631(23H2)" of Windows 11.

Thank you for your patience and support.

    Hello,

“Upgrade to Windows 11 (business editions) en-us x64” - This option will upgrade your systems to Windows 11 version 22000(21H2). It’s a specific upgrade package designed for business editions and is likely tailored to provide a smooth transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11 while maintaining business-related features and settings.

“Windows 11, version 23H2 x64 2024-05B” - This option refers to a feature update to Windows 11, version 23H2, which is a newer version than 21H2. If this package includes the full operating system, it can be used to upgrade Windows 10 systems directly to the latest version of Windows 11, provided the systems meet the minimum requirements for Windows.

Both options are viable for upgrading to Windows 11. However, if you want to upgrade your systems to the latest version directly and the second option is a full OS upgrade package, you could go with option 2. This would ensure that the systems are up to date with the latest features and security updates.

It’s important to note that whichever option you choose, the systems must meet the minimum requirements for Windows 11.

Before proceeding with the upgrade, it’s recommended to check the compatibility of the systems using the PC Health Check app.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian

    Hi, @Vid3al

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

"Upgrade to Windows 11 (business editions) en-us x64"

This option can upgrade your systems to Windows 11 version 22000(21H2) but cannot upgrade to a higher version.

Like Hania mentioned, it can provide a smooth transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11, but if you want to upgrade to Windows 11 22H2 or 23H2, you still need to use the update like option 2.

Option 2 is the UUP-style updates which start from windows 11 22h2, it includes the full operating system and the latest cumulative update.
