Dear community,

Is it possible to install a communication site on SharePoint 2019 Server?

I was told that in this case it is only possible to install a team site.

Basically, I am also wondering if SharePoint Server 2019 and SharePoint 2019 on premise are the same?

Thank you for posting in this community.According to this official document from Microsoft: Create a communication site in SharePoint, SharePoint server 2019 supports the creation of communication sites. You can follow the steps in the documentation to create it.

Also, SharePoint 2019 is an on-premises software, so SharePoint Server 2019 and SharePoint 2019 are the same.
