opening file shared by different institution account

Hi,

one ppt file was shared by WashU 365 account (stored in washu business onedrive).

This shared ppt file is accessible by my 365 account (one of Korean University) only via web browser. However, it does not appear in shared file list of 365 PPT. Is there way to open this file with ppt?

Per my test, you need to share the document with user in 365 PPT, so that you could find the file in the shared list. You could follow the steps:

Share the file with the ppt user in onedrive
Check the shared file in 365 office Shared list

Thanks for your replay but it still does not appear in shared file list.

I have been routinely working with shared ppt for word files in WashU. As I start my new position in different institute, I wanted to keep working with previous colleagues via shared file. Now it only works via bowser but not ppt or word 365.

Hi @Jaeu Yi,

Per my test, I could get the shared file in powerpoint when the file is shared by the user in the same tenant.

But I am unable to get the file shared by other tenant users in powerpoint. This file can be only accessed on website. And I feel regretful to inform you that it turns out to be a by-design one.

As a workaround, you could only download the file from onedrive or office 365 online to local. Thanks for your understanding.
