Create Event Grid Event Subscription : Publisher Notification Error

Hello,

I have Event Grid System Topic Created.

I'm Getting The following Error when try to create event subscription with azure function as destination:

Information about this client id: User's image

It seems something like Service Principal managed by Azure.

I already try give full permissions to Event Grid System Managed Identity but without success.

This only happens if the Event Grid is created with Tenant Root Group Management Group as Source.

The error message you’re encountering indicates that the Azure Function destination type supports only the EventGridSchema. If you’re trying to create an event subscription with an Azure Function endpoint, make sure you’re using the correct schema. Here are a couple of things to check:

Schema Compatibility: Ensure that your Azure Function is configured to handle the CloudEvent schema (specifically CloudEventSchemaV1_0) instead of the EventGridEvent schema. You might need to adjust the binding parameter in your function code to match the expected schema 1.

NuGet Package: If your function is deployed as a C# project, consider installing the NuGet package Microsoft.Azure.WebJobs.Extensions.EventGrid (version 3.3.1) via Visual Studio. This package provides the necessary functionality for handling CloudEvents in your Azure Function 1.

Additionally, if you’re still facing issues, it’s worth checking if the fix for this issue has been deployed to your region. The fix was deployed to some regions, including “Canada central” and “West central US,” but it’s expected to be available in all regions soon 2.

hi @Claudia Dos Santos Haz (CONCENTRIX CORPORATION)Thanks for your answer. Where you see that the error is because that the Azure Function destination type supports only the EventGridSchema?

Also my EventGrid is created with EventGridSchema deliver type. So should be supported. Also if i create EventGrid with the same configuration but changing the Scope type to Susbcription, it will works. So it seems something related with Scope Type = Management Group.

Could you help?

@Fábio Santos Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you are facing an authorization issue with Microsoft Management Groups while creating an Event Grid event subscription. Based on the error message and my investigation, it seems like Management group needs extra permission to perform any deployment operation at MG level.

I tried reproducing the issue at my end and it failed with the same error. To resolve this issue, you can follow the steps mentioned in the following documentation to elevate access to manage all Azure subscriptions and management groups:

Once all the steps are done, you should be able to create an Event Grid event subscription without any issues. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Thanks for your reply. I already elevated my access. I have User Access Administrator (And Owner) role assigned on Tenant Root Management Group and i still unable to create Event Grid event subscription

@Fábio Santos could you please try registering the Microsoft.EventGrid provider https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/management/resource-providers-and-types#:~:text=regions%20to%20complete.-,Re%2Dregister,-a%20resource%20provider to see if its helps.

If not, I would suggest you to open a support ticket to troubleshoot this issue further. If you don't have a support plan, please let me know
