Hello,

I am using a client-provided smart card to access the client servers. When I open the server through RDP for the first time, the Windows security credentials form automatically suggests the smart card credentials.

However, after some time, when I open the same server or a different server through RDP, it does not display the smart card credentials in the Windows security credentials form, and the form becomes unresponsive. I have to restart the system to connect to the server.

The same issue occurs repeatedly. It works the first time, but subsequent attempts fail.

Ensure that you have the latest drivers for your smart card reader installed. Check the manufacturer's website for any updates.

In Start Search type Services.msc and hit the Enter key. Ensure that the Smart Card service is running.

Open Group Policy Editor and configure these settings:

Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Smart Card

Allow Integrated Unblock screen to be displayed at the time of logon -> Enabled

Allow the use of biometric devices to unlock the smart card -> Enabled

Allow time invalid certificates to be used for logon -> Disabled
