Hi,

Please confirm if there is an option available to export the entire Purview data catalog contents to an Excel sheet. Such as a list of assets in each collection for existing (registered) data sources in Purview.

Also, what are the steps required to generate the above export for all data assets in Purview?

Based on my testing, and information in the below article on Purview export (preview) feature, it is currently only possible to export one asset type at a time from the Purview data catalog.
Also, the Purview exports (currently preview feature) are limited to business assets only.

Refer to: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/security-compliance-and-identity/now-in-preview-export-your-business-assets-from-microsoft/ba-p/3859055

Thanks & regards, Tino.

    Hi ,@Tino Giambattista

Currently, Microsoft Purview does not support exporting the entire data catalog contents to an Excel sheet in one go. The export feature is limited to business assets and allows exporting only one asset type at a time.

To export business assets from Purview, follow these steps:

    1. Navigate to the Purview Portal: Go to the collection containing the assets you want to export.
    2. Select Business Assets: Choose the asset type you want to export.
    3. Export: Use the export option to download a CSV file of your selected assets, including their GUIDs and the fields you chose to export

For more comprehensive exports, you might consider using the Purview REST API. This approach allows you to programmatically retrieve entity details and export them as needed.
