workflows in microsoft purview only apply on physical asset types and not my custom asset types. Is it expected behavior?

Microsoft Purview provides workflows. In the documentation it is not specified anywhere that workflows are selectively applicable for only a few asset types. But while using purview i realized that i cannot trigger the workflows on my custom asset types. For example, the request access workflow. I only get an option to trigger it from my the tables i have mapped from snowflake in my catalog. But when i visit a business asset (based on a custom asset type) then i don't get the option to trigger the workflow.

I confirmed that Purview workflows designed to be triggered only for certain physical asset types and not for custom asset types.
