    Hello Ryuk,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

I understand your concern. Here are steps you can follow to ensure your computer's security after potentially using a suspicious tool:

    Immediate Actions

    1.Disconnect from the Internet:

Temporarily disconnect from the internet to prevent any potential data exfiltration.

    2.Uninstall the Tool:

Uninstall the tool you downloaded from the suspicious site.

    3.Run a Full Antivirus Scan:

Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to detect and remove any suspicious files or malware.

    4.Change Important Passwords:

Change passwords for important accounts immediately. Focus on banking, email, and other sensitive accounts first.

Use a different device or a known secure computer to change these passwords if you're concerned your current device is compromised.

    Additional Actions

    1.Check for Suspicious Activity:

Review recent account activity on your email, banking, and other important accounts for any unauthorized actions.

    2.Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA):

Enable 2FA on all accounts that support it for an extra layer of security.

    3.Update Software:

Ensure your operating system and all software are up to date with the latest security patches.

    Specific Steps for Windows

    1.Open Task Manager:

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.

Look for any unfamiliar or suspicious processes and end them. Be cautious with this step to avoid stopping critical system processes.

    2.Check Startup Programs:

Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.

Go to the Startup tab and disable any unknown or suspicious startup items.

    3.Review Installed Programs:

Go to Control PanelProgramsPrograms and Features.

Uninstall any programs you don't recognize or that were recently installed without your knowledge.

    4.Reset Credentials Manager:

Clear out any saved credentials in the Windows Credentials Manager to ensure no compromised data remains.

    5.Network Monitor:

Use network monitoring tools to check for any unusual outgoing connections that might indicate data exfiltration.

By following these steps, you should regain control of your system and minimize any potential risks.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou
