How to stop both of my desktops downloading the same things and syncing

I bought a gaming pc about a week ago and when I was setting it up it asked me a question saying do I want to get the stuff off my laptop to go on the pc. So I thought Yh that’s great so I don’t have to start from the beginning. But now every time I download a game on my pc because that’s what I want it for, gaming and streaming, it also downloads it on my laptop which I want for just personal things. Then when I delete it on my laptop it deletes it on my pc too and everything seems to sync. I’m signed in with the same Microsoft account on both devices which I want to be. I just want my devices to not sync and I want to use them for different things.

We may choose which folders to sync, but we cannot set which files to sync via OneDrive UI.

I suggest you go to OneDrive Settings > Sync and backup > Manage backup, check whether you backup Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders with OneDrive.

If so, it's recommended to decide one folder you want to turn off backup, such as Download, go to Windows Explorer, copy the content that you need to stay on this gamebook from Download to other local folders, no OneDrive folder.

Then go back to "Manage backup", stop backup Download, and go to Account > Choose folders, cancel the sync for Download.

And then please copy the content back to Download folder.
