How can i take backup of one public postgress server and restore it on another private postgress flexible server with same region and same network

Both server present in a same network and same location, but source server have 2 region and target server have 1 region

This is my version source server details
Burstable, 1 vCore(s), 128 GB
postgress server - 16.3

this is my target server details

My requirement was to migrate the data(databases, table, column everything ) from the public postgres flexible to private postgress flexible server.

so what i have done now i took the backup of source public postgress flexible server through backup vault.
so now when i am restoring from this backup vault their it is asking me about storage account.

but i want to restore it in private postgress flexible server not in storage account, so how can i do that?

And also while restoring the backup from backup vault to container in storage account i am only getting 4 files (timestamp, roles, schema, table space) but backup_name}database{db_name}.sql file is missing inside container in storage account.

Thanks for the reply.

Since it just some data, you could try ETL mechanism like Azure Data Factory or Azure Synapse Analytics pipelines is suits to your case.

Let us know if this is feasible for you to use.

This is not just some data, when i am restoring a postgress backup this will be the main data file backup_name}database{db_name}.sql which is missing**.
**
And you only given me the this way to backup my PostgreSQL data so i can restore it on another postgress flexible server.

so why this file is missing may be backup vault didn't backup the entire postgres flexible server or it only backup the table, schema , roles and timestamp not the actuall data which i want to restore in another postgre flexible server.

i need the entire backup of the source postgress flexible server.

If this does not help, you should raise support case to help you in this scenario since you want is with private configuration of server and it needs deeper analysis and possibility check.

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

As I understand, you want to take backup of Azure Database for PostGreSQL Flexible server and restore to another.

PostgreSQL Flexible Server backup data can be recovered in user specified storage containers that can be used to re-build the PostgreSQL flexible server. Customers can restore this data as a new PostgreSQL flexible server with DB native tools.

Currently, backing up individual databases is not supported. You can only back up the entire server.

Before you restore from Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible server backups, ensure that you have the required permissions for the restore operation.

Backup data is stored in the Backup vault as a blob within the Microsoft tenant. During a restore operation, the backup data is copied from one storage account to another across tenants. Ensure that the target storage account for the restore has the AllowCrossTenantReplication property set to true.
