I would be grateful if you could you help me the problem below.

I would like to monitor network switches with SCOM 2022.

We have Juniper EX switches and I was able to discover the switches with SNMPv3 protokoll.

The older switches (EX2200) discovered as Certified device, and the SCOM can monitor CPU, Memory, VLANS and ports as well.

BUT newer device (EX3400) discovered as Generic device without Vendor and Model and these type of switches are not included in the Network Monitoring -> Switches monitoring view, and not surpirisingly without extended monitoring capabilities.

I dowloaded the OperationsManage_ExtendedMonitoringForNetworkDevices.xlsx  and I can see the Juniper switch Juniper EX (withot model marking) is supported.

.1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.1.1.1.2.30       Switch  Juniper EX          Yes        Yes

Thank you in advance,

Peter

    Hi,

Please try to run this command:

    host1:~# snmpwalk -v 2c -c my_community_string x.x.x.x

How to check temperature, CPU/memory usage by SNMP OID

Please run the command show system processes extensive | match snmp on your Juniper switch will help you identify the SNMP processes running on the device. This can be useful for troubleshooting SNMP-related issues.

SCOM 2022 does not support SNMP trap rules for SNMPv3 devices. If security policies allow, you could configure your Juniper EX3400 switches to use SNMPv2c for sending traps.

    Hi XinGuo,

    Thanky you for your answer.

The SNMP walk is walking and, we don't want to configure SNMP trap.

Our problem is as you can see below on the attached pictures the EX2200 switches discovered as Certified Device, however the EX3400 discovered as Generic Device. Due to this, I think that this is why the EX3400 switches do not appear in the Network Monitoring->Switches view. The EX3400 switches appears only in the Network Device view.

    Thank you in advance,

    Peter
