Help. My cursor is missing. This started yesterday when my cursor would go missing when I opened my computer, but after a few minutes, it would reappear and work. But then, it would stop working and moving when I leave it inactive for too long. Yesterday, my computer accidentally turned off twice because of some loose wires. But my mouse still worked after that. Then, last night before I shut down my computer, it wasn't moving at all when I left it inactive. It was fixed in the middle of the screen. When I restarted it, it was completely gone. I've done everything. Safe mode, mouse visibility. The drivers are updated, my operating system is updated, there are no other errors in my windows log besides because of gamebar, secure boot failed to update and other that are typically not related to my mouse cursor. I've done a quick and full scan, none detected anything wrong. When I click control, a shrinking circle appears in the middle of the screen, indicating that my cursor is in the middle of the screen but is invisible and doesn't work. My mouse device is working properly too. I don't know what else to do. I've tried every possible solution except system restore because I don't have any points. Please help. It's also an all-in-one PC running on Windows 10.

I've also tried using the number pad to try and move the mouse, when I press CTRL, it doesn't move. Is it a hardware issue?

    Hello,

It sounds like you've done a lot of troubleshooting already, so here's a few more steps that might help resolve this issue:

    1. Check for Hardware Issues:
      • Try using a different mouse to see if the issue persists. If it works, the problem is likely with your mouse.
      • If you’re using a USB mouse, try plugging it into a different USB port.
      • If possible, try your mouse on another computer to confirm it is working properly.
    2. Check Mouse Settings:
      • Go to Settings > Devices > Mouse. Make sure everything looks normal here.
      • Click Additional mouse options at the bottom and check the settings there. Sometimes, the pointer might be hidden, or the speed settings might be off.
    3. Restart Windows Explorer:
      • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
      • Find Windows Explorer, right-click on it, and select Restart.
    4. Check for System File Corruptions:
      • Open Command Prompt as an administrator (right-click > Run as administrator).
      • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This will scan and repair any corrupted system files.
    5. Create a New User Account: There might be a problem with your user profile. Try creating a new user account:
      • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
      • Go to Accounts > Family & other users.
      • Click Add someone else to this PC and follow the prompts.
      • Log into the new account and see if the mouse works.

    Best Regards,

    Yanhong Liu
