Azure Migration Storage

I have migrated a VM from on-premises to Azure VM using the Azure Migration service. After doing so, I wanted to cleanup and remove the migration resources. I was able to remove everything with the exception of the migration storage and disk resources. There is a lock on each one of these. I am wondering if it's ok to remove the lock and delete these resources without affecting the VM. I don't see where the VM is being replicated any longer but I'm not entirely sure where to look. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi @Philip Michael ,

if the replication and the final migration is done you should check if the migrated VM is running properly in Azure.

If so you should stop the replication and wait until at least one backup of the Azure VM is finished successfully.

After this is done you can remove the locks and delete the migration related resources.

    Hi Philip Michael,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum, thank you for posting your query here!
It’s great to hear that you’ve successfully migrated your VM to Azure! Regarding the locked migration storage and disk resources, you can safely remove the locks and delete these resources without affecting your VM, provided that the VM is no longer being replicated and the migration process is complete.

The steps to remove the lock:

    1. Navigate to the Azure Portal: Go to the resource group that contains the locked resources.
    2. Select the Locked Resource: Click on the storage or disk resource that has the lock.
    3. Remove the Lock:
    • In the resource’s settings, find the “Locks” option in the left-hand menu.
      • Select the lock you want to remove and click on the “Delete” button1.

Before proceeding, ensure that the VM is not part of any ongoing replication or migration process. You can check the Azure Migrate project to confirm that all migration activities are complete
*Ensure that you have taken a backup of necessary data from the respective drive before proceeding with the deletion
