Here's how I got it working....

Extract the drivers from the .exe using winrar, place them in a handy folder.

Right click on the generic driver and select "update driver software"

Click "browse my computer..."

Click "let me pick from a list of device drivers..."

Highlight the current driver

Click "Have disk"

Navigate to the folder you put the extracted files in.

Ta dah, done.

I've noted your suggestion for future usage though. Many thanks.

    Hi,

    1.     Just to confirm the steps you followed to uninstall the drivers. Make sure ‘**delete driver files for the device’**is checked.

    a.     Click Start, type devmgmt.msc and press enter.

    b.     Locate sound device

    c.     Right click on the device and select uninstall

    d.     Also place a check mark beside the option “delete driver files for the device”

    e.     Install the latest drivers for the device from the manufacturer’s website

    2.     Remove hidden devices from device manager by following the below steps:

    a.     Click Start, type devmgmt.msc and press enter.

    b.     Click show hidden devices under View

    c.     Expand all the nods under device manager

    d.     There would be many grayed out entries in device manager uninstall all the grayed out entries under all the nods and then restart the computer and plug the device to the computer and check if it works.
