Windows 10.exe

I have this task on my pc and I don't know why is it there. There would be no problem if only it didn't use all my cpu.

Every percent of unused cpu is used by this task, so when I'm just looking at my desktop it is using 100% of it. If I star playing or anything The usage of this task will only fall to the point of what is unused. For example, if I'm using something that requires 20% of my cpu, then windows 10.exe will use 80%. If I open other stuff and it takes 15%, then windows 10.exe will be using 65% and so on. I can't find any help regarding this issue. I have an HP omen, so there should not be any lack of cpu.

I had this same issue.

C:/ProgramData/Windows 10/Windows 10.exe was running and restarted itself every time I killed it from Task Manager. Scanning with Windows Defender did not indicate it was a malicious program. If I let it run while my network was up, CPU usage would go straight to 100% and stay there. Disabling my network interface made the CPU usage drop to normal idle levels. Trying to send the program to the Recycle Bin gave an error because it was in use. I ended up using Windows 10 Bash to mv the executable to a different name. This prevented it from restarting when it was killed from Task Manager.

Additionally, there were two other programs I was unfamiliar with that showed up in Task Manager. One was called Init, with no extension listed. Nothing happened when using "Open file location" in Task Manager on it. I killed that as well and it went away. (EDIT: this was part of Ubuntu and unrelated) There was another program called C:/ProgramData/lnpptcc/lnpptcc.exe. This I also killed and deleted.

These processes have not come back after I did the above. I saved copies of the two executables I could find for later analysis, but I have a bad feeling those processes were doing more than pinging Google.com.

I'm running a full system scan with Windows Defender at the moment to see if anything else comes up. Will update this post if I find anything else relevant.

It is a malware used for bitcoin mining.

Use some anti malware software like

    https://www.hitmanpro.com/en-us/hmp.aspx

    https://www.malwarebytes.com/

Using them should solve the problem.

Windows defender won't be able to identify this as a threat.

    Hi,

There are possible reasons why this issue occurred. For us to provide the best resolution, we'd like to ask for the screenshot of the said task on your Task Manager that's causing high usage of CPU.

In the meantime, if you have an antivirus app or Windows defender, we suggest running it and performing a full scan of your system to see if a malware or virus is causing the issue.

    We'll wait for your response.

I fixed this by starting the pc on safe mode and deleting the file location. I had no other problems after I did.

    Thanks for your help.
