    Thank you for posting back.

Since updating the mouse driver and using a different mouse didn't work, we suggest that you try to uninstall and reinstall the device. Check the steps provided below:

**1:**Press Windows + Xkeys and select Device Manager.

2 : Expand Mice and other pointing devices.3:Right Click on the mouse device and select Properties

5: Go to Driver tab and click Uninstall Device.

4: Restartthe computer, and Windows will reinstall the mouse drivers.

    Keep us posted.

    Hello Vanessa,

The options provided on this page are :

    • check for updates : my pc is up to date
    • restart the pc : it does solve the problem, albeit temporarily
    • create a new admin account: my pc is on a domain, so this isn't an option I can do. However, this may solve issue with Cortana but I have a hard time seeing how that would fix a pointer issue
    • reset the pc: that is an unreasonably complex option for a mildly annoying issue with a workaround (restart the explorer process )

I admit I am a bit annoyed by your answer, and think you are delivering a fairly frustrating experience here.

We've given every detail for you to validate  it is a bug. Rather than continuing on linking support pages, I'd suggest you acknowledge this, and you'll have a bunch of testers ready to help you diagnose and fix the issue.

Happy to keep working with you in that direction!

    Hello,

I've had the same issue several times now. A bit more info on what I can see.

    • The issue only happens to the start menu. The desktop, taskbar, or any other application is ok.
    • This doesn't seem to depend on the mouse. It is replicable with the trackpad. My mouse is a wired optical mouse, that appears in the device manager as a HID-compliant mouse, using microsoft driver.
    • I've tried changing the resolution of the screen, but the bug stays there
    • Restarting the laptop solves the issue - temporarily. I haven't been able to figure out what triggers the issue.
    • killing Explorer in the task manager and restarting it also fixes the issue.

It looks as if the start menu was transposing the mouse away from the center of the start menu. Both horizontally and vertically.

From my menu, the weather app is the only one that works fine (if the mouse is at the very center of it). Putting the mouse at the bottom of photo selects the mail app. Putting the mouse on Code writer selects Remote Desktop. Putting my mouse on Affinity Designer selects Deezer.

Device is a Dell Latitude E7450.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

This issue is often caused by an incompatible driver to the recently installed update. For us to isolate the issue, we suggest that you download and install a driver from your device manufacturer's support site. Please follow these steps:

    1. Click on Start.
    2. Type Device Manager and press Enter.
    3. Double-click on the Mice and other pointing devices.
    4. Double-click on the device that you need to update.
    5. Click on Driver tab.
    6. Click on Update Driver button.
    7. Follow the on-screen guide.

Let us know how it goes.
