License Type Change to PAYG When Deploy a VM from Disk(VHD)

Hi,

I have some Windows VMs running on our Azure Stack.
They are deployed from the disk snapshot (VHD), and the VHD was created on our Azure Stack as well.
If I check the license type of those VMs, it shows that the VMs are using PAYG license. However, the VHD was created from the VM that used to be BYOL license activated.
I would like to know why the system mark them as PAYG VM?

Thank you.

anonymous user Azure Stack Hub does not support the Hybrid-Use Benefit like Azure, but does allow BOYL licenses.

If your image is not using the BOYL model, you can add it by following the steps here, or by making sure that you are using the proper licensetype when creating the VM.

    Hi Travis,

So whenever you create a VM from VHD, the licensetype of the VM must be PAYG license?
I mean, the VHD was created from the VM with BYOL image. But when you use it to deploy a new VM, the new VM is not using BYOL model, but PAYG.

It's a good thing that we can change the licensetype, but I want to make a note, when you deploy a VM from VHD, you have to check the license model again to make sure what kind of license that you use.
