How to get latest version of inetres.admx working in domain SYSVOL - DisableInternetExplorerApp

Hi all,

I want to start disabling IE11 and redirecting IE11 users to MS Edge.

I understand this computer GPO setting can be used...

Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Internet Explorer/Disable Internet Explorer 11 as a standalone browser

However...

Even though my domain controllers are at the required update level (KB4598296 / KB4601318) and show the required version of inetres.admx in their local Windows PolicyDefinitions store the version in my SYSVOL\Policies\PolicyDefinitions store is outdated and does not contain the required updated settings.

I have tried to replace the SYSVOL copy with the local store version but it breaks the inetres.admx template and thereafter I cannot edit any Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Internet Explorer settings.

When editing policy from central store I get this error...

When replace the inetres.admx template in SYSVOL with the local store version, did you replace the inetres.adml file?

We should Copy the inetres.adml file from the local store:C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\en-US) to %systemroot%\sysvol\domain\policies\PolicyDefinitions\EN-US).
