Upgrade windows 2008 R2 standard to higher

i am using windows server 2008 R2 standard, microsoft has stopped the support for this version, so i want to upgrade he server to new version, please advice the steps.

    No, you need to buy the higher Server system’s license. Unlike free upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10, all server systems’ upgrade must need to be paid.

    In my opinion, after you buy the license of proper server system version such like Windows Server 2019, clean install then add roles and migrate data is the best practice, don’t use in-place upgrade.
