Always On Device VPN - Won't connect at machine startup, unless from scheduled task.

I've created a Device VPN connection using the Microsoft documentation https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/windowsserverdocs/blob/master/WindowsServerDocs/remote/remote-access/vpn/vpn-device-tunnel-config.md

Using this method didn't populate the adaptor settings, although after configuring manually I was able to use it. The VPN does not connect at start-up although the xml file did include the always on option, I also set the VPN connection to 'Connect Automatically'. I ended up creating a scheduled task which would trigger the connection at start-up.

Any help making this connection automatically connect as designed would be great. Is there a specific set of services that need to be running before it will connect as expected or any group policy settings that need to be set/avoided.

Windows 10 version is 1809

    Hi ,

Welcome to our new Microsoft Q&A Platform.

You might need to check XML file.

If you make a mistake in one of the tags, the script would run, however, all the parameters you have specified such Tunnel Type, Authentication Type and settings won't be configured (they will be lost) and the OS will leave the default values for regular VPN.

So, our recommendation is, if this is the first time you are running the script, after script runs, you should go to the properties of the VPN and check the parameter you have specified in the script were configured properly.

    Best Regards,

    Candy
