Unable to decrease spacing after heading

Hi,

I had fiddled with word styles so that i could number my 'heading 1' as chapters. Now, somehow all the headings have space between the headings and the next normal paragraph (so it looks as if the heading and next paragraph are detached). But when i checked the settings, the 'space after' is set to zero. I am going mad. Please help. I have posted the settings of 'heading 2' below as an example.

Font: (Default) +Headings (Cambria), 13 pt, Bold, Font color: Accent 1, Keep with next, Keep lines together, Level 2

Tab stops:  1.18", Left, Outline numbered + Level: 2 + Aligned at:  0" + Indent at:  0", Style: Linked, Hide until used, Quick Style, Priority: 10

Based on: Normal

Following style: Normal

Look at the settings for whatever style you are using for your "normal" text. Is there any Spacing Before specified for that style?

You should also verify that Vertical Alignment is set to "Top." Look on the Layout tab of the Page Setup dialog box. To display the dialog, click the dialog launcher button (the little arrow on the bottom right) of the Page Setup group on the Page Layout ribbon tab.

I signed up just to thank you Stefan, I was losing my mind trying to figure out how to eliminate that extra space. Now I can actually start working on the body of my Prospectus, rather than worry about APA technicalities.

Thank you Stefan! I look like an idiot! I checked 'space after' for all headings, but i forgot to check 'space before' for normal. When I did after your comment, indeed it was set to 10 points. I removed it and that did the trick. I should have got suspicious when the space below was the same after all headings, the only thing attached to all headings is the normal style.

I am so happy that my document is ok now. I was so worried (Restyling the entire document would have eaten up much of my time and energy). I am much indebted to you! Keep up your good work!

That description says that the style is based on Normal, which as 10 points Spacing After and does not explicitly state that the Spacing After is 0. Are you sure that you modified the style spacing?
