Is it possible to crawl/index content from Azure File Shares and surface it in the SPO search?

Trevor Seward 11,706 Reputation points2020-07-19T18:49:12.43+00:00 A couple of suggestions come to mind, though admittedly I haven't tried them.
1) Leverage SharePoint Hybrid Search to crawl the Azure File Share, this would require a SharePoint Server deployment on-premises.
2) Using Microsoft Search and the Data Management Gateway, crawl the file share. Results will be exposed via Microsoft Search. This requires an on-premises deployment.-

- I don't think that is possible, you cannot add Azure File Share as content source
- the file share connector is only for on-prem file share, not Azure File Share
