Word CountIf Function for a table?

Hi everyone-

I am working on an assignment for a college course that requires us to use Word to count and calculate data in a table. I am wondering how to count the instances of a number in a column. I have a column of data with a selection of either '1' or '2' in the column. I want to separate these out to count each occurrence of the value.

I know this would be easiest to do in Excel. Simply using CountIf would be a breeze. However, for whatever reason the professor wants this done in Word using Word functions...

    The simplest way would be to embed a spreadsheet in the Word document.
