Multiple domains, one tenant, multiple users

Scenario: One company, trading under different domains, with 10 staff.

If a user exists "Tom Mason" with an email address of "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***" and we add the domain "domain2.co.uk" does Tom automatically get a secondary email address of "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***"?

Could we have a different Tom ("Tom Peters") using "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***" with that being a different mailbox?

Thanks.

    hi carllnglis,

the email address will not automatically be changed. it is decided by admin. when adding the domain2.co.uk, the admin will be asked if he wants to change user’s email address’ suffix to that domain. if he did that, the email address will be changed at that time. if he rejected, he can change user’s email address later manually in office 365 admin center by editing user’s details.

yes, we can as long as these two domains have been verified and have associated exchange online related dns records in office 365.

    thanks,

    Hi Iris,

thanks for that, however I'm not talking about /changing/ the address, I'm talking about a secondary address being added automatically. Sometimes known as a proxy address, or an alias address.

In the scenario I'm investigating, the domain will be added by the CREST/GRAPH API calls rather than through the control panel, however the underlying functionality should be the same.

Your further thoughts would be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Carl

    hi carl,

thanks for posting back. it seems that you want *** Email address is removed for privacy *** to be automatically added to his other email address after finishing adding the domain as shown below.

if it is the case, i’d like to clarify that office 365 won’t add secondary email address automatically after add a domain. global admins are required to manually configure the other email addresses settings if needed.

if it is not clear or there is any misunderstanding, please let us know.

    regards,

    ryan
