Launching swf from PowerPoint

I am using Window 7 pro, 64 bit, PowerPoint 2010 and FP 17.The swf files are associated with FP17 stand alone.  I have attempted to add a swf file into PP using both the insert video option along with the Developer method. The insert video option I get a black box and when I attempt to preview this I get an error message "Your current security settings do not allow this action'. When I open PP, the developer version shows only a white box. I have tried the following to correct this:

  1. Inserted swf as video through Insert/Video ribbon
  2. Inserted swf through developer tab
  3. Changed security settings in Powerpoint to enable all x active and macros
  4. Changes the registry lockdown settings
  5. Updated both the flash player plugins and stand-alone player
  6. Changed the swf file association to IE, Firefox and stand-alone player
  7. Saved presentation as ppt, pptx and pptm

I was under the impression the FP 17 was going to resolve this? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. I had to do two things; download the FP 17 for IE but also had to republish the swf file from FP 13, ActionScript 3.0 to FP 16, ActionScript 3.0. Everything is working. Thanks.

Using PowerPoint 2010 and Flash Player 17, I get good results using the steps on this page: Flash in PowerPoint

This problem is reported online by several people, though I have never experienced it. Some have fixed this problem by placing the .swf file in the same folder as the presentation.

Here is a link to a known good .swf I have tested in PowerPoint: Test SWF Please download this and let us know your results.
