Spaces are replaced with dashes

Whenever i type and press the space bar, instead of a space it is replaced by a dash. What do i do?? Thanks!

    Do you also see ¶ at the end of each paragraph?  If so, click on the Show\Hide (¶) button in the Paragraph section of the Home tab of the ribbon.
