long math formulas in Excel

I can't get Excel to correct this formula. I need the proper syntax for multiple functions (not IF formulas) within one Excel formula. The correct mathematical answer, which I can get by breaking up the operations, which is a time-waster, is 65,882.35.  How do you do multiple functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in long formulas without confusing Excel?  Am I missing a parenthesis or something?  Why doesn't it show me the correct solution?  It just tells me there's a problem with the formula and how to format it into text.  Here's the formula:

=sum(60,000+(65,000-58,000)/(.97*1.23))

Do not use the thousand separator 60,000 => 60000. The thousand separator is a display format while the decimal separator is a meaningful indicator.
