How to set a macro for inserting page number X of Y at the bottom (middle) of the page in word 2013

Hey everyone,

So this can currently be done by going Insert->page number->Bottom of the page->then finding the right format (among many like only page 1, only numeric 1 , page x of y at left or right etc etc).

And this takes too much time.

How do set up a macro for this?

I tried a simple macro by just recording all the above (Insert->page number->Bottom of the page->then finding the right format) and assigned it a key also. And then it actually worked but only temporarily. Whenever I would restart my PC, I would get the error - "Run-time Error "5941" the requested member  of the collection does not exist.

I run a fully updated windows 7 with word 2013.

Attaching screenshots of the error and also my macro editor.

Pls suggest!

Thank you in advance

It does not have to be in the normal template. You can use a different template. (You are right, you should not have a footer in the normal template.)

You can save a footer building block.

You can even use the template on my site that has these.

It is really best to create a template that has the desired page numbering set up in the footer.

    Hey,

u mean a specific template for this purpose, right?

Because there is a restriction that the normal template cannot have text, images and also any header or footer and my requirement of page X of Y, is exactly that - a footer.

     thanks!
