There should be a link to the particular easy fix tool that is in your instructions.
There are many easy fix tools, so you'd need the one just for your issue.

What is the "easy fix tool" in Win10? Where can I find it? I'm trying to use it, as instructed by Win10 help, to point to custom templates for Word 2016, but although it's specifically referenced in the instructions, I cannot find such a tool.

Unfortunately there is no associated link, hence my question. If in Word, one searches for "where are my custom templates?" among the answers posted is one telling you how to "fix" the problem. Except it calls for using an "easy fix tool" -- without an associated tool of any kind. And searches for anything calling itself such a tool turn up nothing. Very frustrating, especially since it promises to automatically "fix" the linkage to one's custom templates in each application. Sure beats trying to do them one at a time.
Thanks anyway
Add the New Document or Template command to the Quick Access Toolbar.
When you use that, it will take you directly to the classic New dialog in which all of your templates will be displayed, arranged under tabs if you have sub folders in the Templates folder.
Thanks! Unfortunately I have no idea how to do either, but with luck and a little research tomorrow, I'm hopeful.
Also, I assume this would need to be done for each program - and not have them all together in one folder, but drawn on by each application as needed (so most in Word, but also templates for Excel reports, PowerPoint presentations etc.).
