Powerpoint Reloading every 5 seconds

Hello Microsoft Community.

Someone brought us her Surface Tablet Pro (3, I think) whose PowerPoint (And I discovered the same problem with her excel spreadsheets) keep reloading every few seconds. This is sporadic. She never loses any data, and the whole thing lasts a few split seconds. (If you blink, you can miss it) but it is constantly refreshing/reloading every 5-10 seconds.

I haven't found any solutions or threads that have helped so far, and yes I have looked and tried many things.

What I've done/discovered:

  • It's not her graphics drivers. They are up-to-date, but also it isn't doing it on the entire display. I minimized the PowerPoint window and waited for it to 'reload', and it only did it in the PowerPoint window. The display itself doesn't flicker.
  • Windows is up-to-date
  • PowerPoint is up-to-date.
  • There are no issues in Slide Show mode, only in Edit mode.
  • Rebooted many many times......
  • I turned off graphics acceleration (no effect)
  • It has the regular auto save/recover function every 10 minutes.

The temporary fix that I found interesting was that if I disconnected the Surface Tablet from Wifi, no more reloading.

But the second you connect it back to the internet, the reloading resumes.

Aside from reinstalling Office (which is my last idea), do you have any ideas on how I should proceed?

Thanks.

    Hi,

As an initial troubleshooting step to resolve this issue, kindly check if there's an account currently signed in to PowerPoint. Try signing out the account and check if the issue persists.

    Regards.

    Hi,

This temporary fix stopped my screen from constantly flashing and making me lose my place while editing PPT slides and Exel sheets, but I would like to have the benefits of my Office 365 account while using office (customization and such). Surly there is a way to do both?

    Thanks!
