'Revert to' menu on Word for Mac 2011

Hi,

I want to restore previous versions of a word document on Mac. I was told to open the document, go to File, and choose 'Revert to' menu. However, I could not find that menu on my Mac. Does anyone face the same problem? Would be grateful if someone could help me with this.

Thanks,

Megan

No version of Word has a Revert to menu choice. Word 2016 for Mac has File>Restore, which may be what they were thinking of. Word 2011 doesn't have that command. Here is Microsoft's page about recovering files in Office 2011: Automatically save and recover files

If you set up Time Machine on your Mac, that can be very useful for accessing earlier copies of a file.

When I think I might need access to an earlier version in the future, I use File>Save As and rename the file with an incrementing number or date.

    File>Restore has 2 subcommands:

    1. Restore to Last Saved discards all changes to the file made since the last save. There is a dialog that warns you before it actually does this.
    2. View Version History Online is for users of SharePoint or OneDrive for Business storage. This allows any user in a collaborative document stored on one of those to view the version history of changes.
