Hello,
I've been working on Excel 2011 for Mac for a long while.
Lately, I've been having issues with a file containing multiple sheets (10-15 or so).
I sometimes copy a sheet, by right click, "Move or Copy", and then I rename it similarly to the other sheet but put V2 or V3 etc.
I get the message "While renaming a sheet or chart, you entered an invalid name". This is a glitch because I when X close Excel and reopen and redo the same copy sheet and rename I don't have the error that pops up. It happens a lot as I'm working on this file.
I'm wondering is there something I can do to fix this glitch. Is there a way to check this excel file or something?
Thank you

Hi Alexandre,
Is the issue fixed after you update the Office?
If the issue remains, you also can check Jim's reply to see if the issue is caused by the file path or any special character.
Thanks,
Rena
I think it ought to be enough, but if you want to be sure, use File > Save As to rename the file. That way any internal references will be changed when you save the file.
Hello Jim,
Thanks for the info.
So if I just changed the names of the files and sheets directly on the file, it should be enough or should I use another method?
Thanks,
Alexandre
This is how I make a duplicate of a worksheet:
Click the tab of the sheet in question; hold CTRL (not sure what that is on a Mac); drage the tab to where you want the copy.
A sheet called Sheet1 generates a new sheet called Sheet1 (2); so sheet Friday makes sheet Friday (2)
I then rename the new sheet as needed
best wishes
