Disable Blinking Mouse Pointer while typing in Word 2019 for Mac OS Catalina

Hi--I'm becoming increasingly distracted by the high contrast mouse pointer that *blinks* while I type in my new version of Word (Office 2019) on my new MacBook, running Catalina. Previously, I believe, it was hidden by default while typing, but now I can find no option to turn it off, either in my Mac's system settings or in Word's preferences. Does anyone know how to change this setting?

Hi! I resolved the issue by installing the latest Catalina update again.

Indeed, what you describe would not be a problem. What I am describing is: In the new version of word on my new mac, the mouse pointer blinks constantly while I type. The cursor performs as expected.

Having used a computer for word processing purposes professionally for 20 years, I know what to expect from cursors and from the mouse pointer and what they are called. If I were not having an unusual experience, I would not be asking for help on a help forum. If you do not have advice to give, please refrain from responding. It is a waste of your time.

    I believe you're mixing terms:

    • The "mouse pointer" ins the screen element which moves freely in any direction you choose based on use of the mouse or trackpad. It should be hidden while typing but even when visible it doesn't blink.
    • The insertion point [often referred to as a cursor] is a blinking vertical bar [ | ] which moves in line with the text you type indicating where the next typed character will be inserted.

In Word, the insertion point doesn't blink as long as the user is typing... It is a steady | which begins to blink when the keyboard is not being used. If this is what you mean it is a function of the Windows operating system, not the individual programs. The Mac operating system doesn't provide a similar preference.
