Cannot Save Quick Parts to Outlook templates other than NormalEmail.dotm

Hi we are following the instructions provided in this link create-reuseable-text-blocks-for-email-messages-8fb6c723-c960-4c8c-9790-3e43ddc4b186

to create reusable text blocks. We want to create some standard ones by attaching them to a template and sharing them between the users.

According to the guide we should be able to

Save in Click the name of the template in the drop-down list.

A template must be open to be displayed in the drop-down list of template names.

We have followed the steps under Save and distribute building blocks with a template and saved the template under %appdata%\microsoft\templates folder.

When we go to save a new quick part we only have the option for NormalEmail.dotm and not the template we have just created. We have tested this on both Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2019 and it has not worked on either.

We are stumped on how to get this to work.

Thanks
Brad

    Hi @Bradley Cartledge ,

    Sorry for delay.

According to my tests in Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2019, the building blocks is stored in NormalEmail.dotm, I also haven't found the option to change it. However, I found we could try to copy the NormalEmail.dotm file directly to deploy the Quick Part, if you haven't tried it. As a suggestion, it's recommended to copy and paste this file to same location to check.
