Microsoft Planner Empty Notes

Hello,

There's a bug in the Microsoft Planner with empty notes. I have tried using Edge, Chrome, and Firefox browsers, and can replicate this issue.

This mainly happens to the person not "assigned" to the ask. For example, let's say I am Person A and my colleague is Person B. I create a task and assigned to myself (Person A) only. I send the planner task link to Person B, he opens it and he will see a task with no notes. If Person B sees an empty note section and he click on the note section, then immediately close the task, the data on the note section will be deleted. However, if I assign the task to Person B, he will see the task with the proper notes.

This also happens if one goes to the planner page and immediately clicks on a task without the page fully loading, the note section will also be empty. However, if you wait a few seconds to let the planner page to fully load, then things do work fine.

By observing the order that the planner loads, here's what I have noticed:

  1. If I am not asisgned to the task, the note section doesn't load first and will always show up blank when I go to the task from a link. This also happens if one goes to the planner view and click on a task before everything in that page has finished loading.
  2. If I am assigned to the task, the note section is amongst the first things to load and everything works fine.

This is an issue that I have seen in other forums and I am not able to find a good fix. Can someone help?

    Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community, I'm glad to offer help.

According to your detailed description, I tested on my side and got the following results:

    -      Same

    -      Difference (maybe I don't operate the same way you do)

If Person B sees an empty note section and he click on the note section, then immediately close the task, the data on the note section will be deleted.

Considering that we can reproduce the problem using different browsers and it affects different tenants, it is probably caused by the Planner service itself. Since we don't have the abilities or resources to access the back end, I'd like to suggest you contact your IT department to open a support ticket to escalate the issue to the relevant team directly for further investigation: Get support | Microsoft Docs

We appreciate your time and patience on this, and I sincerely hope the problem can be fixed as soon as possible with the help of the professional team.

    Best Regards,

    Arck
