Name manager changes automatically my cell format from date only to date + time?"

Hi,

Please someone could help as I'm experiencing some issues on Excel cell format since October 12, 2021, I will explain

I have a template where I have a cell called Document_date, once I go to names manager and add a name to that cell, the cell format changes from date to date and time, so first time we save the file and re-open, the date will change from date to yesterday date with 11pm time, it looks like Excel thought it was midnight so it goes back one hour, if we save again each time will go back one hour, basically if we do that 24 times which equal to 24h the date will go one day before.

Does any one else have this issue too? please let me know!

Thank you!

    Hi,

As I noticed that the workbook is saved in OneDrive space(we have masked the company name in the shared screenshot to protect your privacy), if the file is shared among other collaborators, kindly confirm with them if they made any settings about that cell.

Besides, please create a new local file and try to follow the similar steps as the issue workbook to see if the same cell-type-change issue will happen again on a new workbook. This helps to make sure the issue is caused by some specific settings in the specific workbook instead of some cache issue about the Excel application as they have different ways to troubleshoot the issue.

Also, save a copy of the file and send it to our forum support team email: ******@forumspo2.onmicrosoft.com with the attached thread link.

    Best Regards,

    Mia

    Hi Mia,

Thank you for the reply, beside the name manager I discovered that we are adding another setup which is we go to Excel>File>Info, after we click on proprieties ![](https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/7d1d87f7-d423-4086-913a-d4dbb8fbf4b5?platform=QnA"https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/90295125-702c-4777-acfb-f0164cb172dd?platform=QnA" rel="ugc nofollow">Image

but after all testing we end up finding this glitch does not happen after Nov 8, 2021 the issue is not happening anymore is very weird

Also I tried to reproduce the same in another Excel, and i was able to reproduce, date changing only between October 12 and Nov 7 :)

by doing the setup name manager and properties, so i entered October 31, and itwent back one hour to October 30 at 11pm

Try it on your side, but is very weird

    Thank you Mia

    Hi,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Based on the description, we did some tests and it seems like the cell format won't change if we add new names for a cell via the Name Manager. Hence, please test if a similar issue will happen on a new workbook. If the issue only happens on this specific template workbook, feel free to share a sample file and engineers or community members here can help to double-check if the same issue will happen on our side. See: Share OneDrive files and folders - Office Support (microsoft.com).

Besides, as you mentioned that the issue happened from Oct.12, to further confirm if the issue can be related to some specific updated Excel version, please share back the screenshot in Excel>File>Account and we will test in various Excel versions.

    Best Regards,

    Mia
