Add folder structure as template

Hello kind people,

We work with projects that are all built up with the same folder structure. For us it would be highly beneficial to have a template of folder structure that we can add in our project library. Ideally the workflow would be something similar to this: Open library "projects" > open folder "2023" > add new folder structure "new project" > rename to project name. With as end result our project folder with eg. a planning folder, project files folder, correspondence folder receipts, etc. automatically baked in.

Thanks so much!

    Dear Ype de Boer

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you

You can create a folder template in SharePoint by following these steps:

    1. Create a new folder in your SharePoint library and name it "Template" or any name you prefer.
    2. Add the desired subfolders and files to the "Template" folder.
    3. Right-click on the "Template" folder and select "Download" to download the folder to your computer.
    4. Rename the downloaded folder to the name of your new project.
    5. Upload the renamed folder to your SharePoint library.

Now, whenever you need to create a new project with the same folder structure, you can simply copy the "Template" folder and rename it to the name of your new project. This will automatically create a new folder with the same subfolders and files as the "Template" folder.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

We look forward to your reply. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Tin | Microsoft Community Moderator
