"Additional Verification Required"

Titled as "Successful Sign-in"

| Device/platform: Unknown

| Browser/Application: Unknown

| Session Activity: Additional Verification Requested

I've recently checked the activity on my Microsoft account and there are a large number requests logged, similar to the one detailed. Seems to have been about 4/5 a day as far back as the activity will go (30 days).

I've not noticed any other unusual account activity on my account and Microsoft hasn't sent me any emails to alert me about unusual activity. I've changed my password to be safe, though the fact that these entries are so common and have been going on for so long with no noticeable issues makes me thing it's just one of my devices checking in?

I'm pretty sure these aren't something I'm doing manually as the majority of them are not from my approximate location, though some are. All of them are from in my country. Which makes me think it may be something to do with my phone.

What confuses me is that the "Additional Verification Required" suggests that it should have sent a verification request to me, but I've not received any, and all of the verification details on the account are mine.

Any ideas what may be causing this activity is very much appreciated, and if it's something I should be concerned about?

    Hello

I’m Adeyemi and I’d be happy to help you with your question.

The "Additional Verification Requested" activity in your Microsoft account could be due to a variety of reasons. It's possible that it's just one of your devices checking in, especially if the activity is coming from your country. However, it could also be a sign that someone else is trying to access your account.

Here are some steps you can take to secure your account:

    1. Change your password: You've already done this, which is a good first step. Make sure your new password is strong and unique.
    2. Enable two-factor authentication (2FA): This adds an extra layer of security to your account. Even if someone else knows your password, they won't be able to access your account without the second verification step.
    3. Review your account activity: Regularly check your account activity for any suspicious sign-ins.
    4. Update your security information: Make sure your security information (like your phone number and alternate email address) is up-to-date. This will help Microsoft verify your identity if there's any suspicious activity on your account.

If you're still concerned about the activity on your account, you might want to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance

    I hope this helps.
