microsoft whiteboard performance issues

Hi,

I use microsoft white board a lot to study, and I use it on my home computer.

I have a 4070ti, 32gb ram 3200mhz and i7 13700F, and yet zooming in or out, changing from pen to grabber/eraser i experience massive delay and lag, I simply don't understand why everyone experiences lag on such a simple app. How unoptimized is it for even a computer like mine capable of a lot more to have performance issues with a whiteboard application?

Yes, I've restarted and done everything said in other posts but nothing helps.

Are there plans to make the app more stable or is there a real fix?

    Hello.

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

You're definitely not alone in this — many users, even with high-end systems, are experiencing lag and performance issues with Microsoft Whiteboard.

    What's Causing the Lag?

The app has been reported to perform poorly, especially after certain Windows 11 updates (notably from April 2024). These updates appear to have introduced compatibility issues that affect both the desktop and web versions of Whiteboard.

    What You Can Try

    1. Use the Web Version

Try using Whiteboard via Office.com. Some users report better performance there compared to the desktop app.

    1. Enable Windows Ink (if using a stylus or tablet)

If you're using a drawing tablet or stylus, ensure Windows Ink is enabled in your device settings. Disabling it has caused lag for some users.

    1. Roll Back Recent Windows Updates

If you're comfortable doing so, uninstalling updates like KB5036893 or KB5036620 may help. These have been linked to performance drops in Whiteboard.

    1. Check for App Updates

Make sure the Whiteboard app is fully updated via the Microsoft Store. Microsoft may release patches to address these issues.

Give it a try and keep me posted.
