I want to sign in to my Azure account with my School ID. The issue I have is:

  • I have lost access to my Microsoft Authenticator access.
  • I hadn't setup any other verification method.
  • I am not able to access / change my sign in options on [https://aka.ms/mfasetup](https://aka.ms/mfasetup)

However, I do have my Outlook and Microsoft signed in but I 'm not able to sign in to Azure. For verification, only 2 option is coming and both require Authenticator App.

I tried to contact my school ID coordinator but he was unable to help.

Hello , Welcome to MS Q&A

I think then your only viable option is to contact Microsoft’s Account Protection or Support Team directly to request an MFA reset.

    Steps You Can Take:

    1. Contact Microsoft Support:
      • Go to the Microsoft Support for Azure page.
      • Choose “Contact Support” and select the appropriate issue (e.g., “Sign-in issues” or “Multi-Factor Authentication”).
      • You’ll need to verify your identity—this may involve providing proof of ownership of the school account (like emails, IDs, or other verification).
    2. Ask Your School’s IT Admin to Reset MFA (if possible): If your school uses Azure Active Directory, and if there's a Global Administrator in your school’s IT department, they can:
      • Go to Azure Portal > Azure Active Directory > Users.
      • Select your account.
      • Under Authentication methods, choose “Require re-register MFA”.
      • This will prompt you to set up MFA again the next time you sign in1.
    3. If You’re the Only Admin or No One Can Help Internally:
      • Then contacting Microsoft directly is the only route left

Pls check and let us know ,

    Thanks

    Deepanshu

RAUSHAN KUMAR THAKUR hi, merci for bringing this up, mon ami,

since u still have access to outlook, that’s our little lifeline. try this trick hop into outlook web, click ur profile pic top right, then 'view account'. from there, sneak into 'security info' and see if u can add a phone number or email as backup. sometimes the backdoor works when the front gate’s locked )) https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info

if that fails… well, sacré bleu, u gotta go straight to the school admin. i know u said they couldn’t help, but insist they need to do an 'mfa reset' those exact words. school it folks often don’t realize they hold the keys to the castle )

always set up at least TWO auth methods. like, authenticator AND a phone number. this might help in other tools too, not just azure. trust me, future u will send u croissants as thanks ))

and since u still have some microsoft apps signed in, try accessing azure via powershell with this lil’ command

    Connect-AzAccount -UseDeviceAuthentication

sometimes it bypasses the usual blocks. worth looking into, as well check if ur school has a self-service password portal...

    bon courage

    Alex

and "yes" if you would follow me at Q&A - personaly thx.
