I am still having the issue even after disabling the Power Management for Touchpad.
How can we fix this? Do I need to send my computer in for a warranty claim?

The touchpad on my Microsoft Surface laptop randomly stops working after my computer is inactive and goes into sleep/standby mode. I tried updating the driver but it says the most updated driver is installed. There is a "!" next to the Surface Touchpad Device driver indicating a Problem Code 43.
How do I fix this?
I've had this problem for quite a while and it seems to come and go. Updating the driver worked once, but not for long.

Carl,
Deleting the driver and having the computer automatically reinstall it did not work. There is an "!" "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) The HIDSPI device did not correctly complete a power transition" notice again.
I'll try 4. Disable Power Management for Touchpad next.
