To enable the use of the Korean language in VBA, follow these steps:

    1. Office Language Preferences: Open Office 2016 Language Preferences by navigating to Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Office 2016 Tools. From there, add Korean as an editing language and set it as the default language for editing.
    2. Control Panel Language Settings: Ensure that the language settings in the Control Panel align with those in your Office applications. Discrepancies can lead to issues with language functionality in VBA.
    3. Language Support: Confirm that you have enabled support for the Korean language within your operating system. This may require installing additional language packs to ensure full functionality.
    4. Input Method Editor (IME): Verify that the Input Method Editor for Korean is correctly set up. You can switch between languages using the language bar available in Windows.

If you have completed these steps and are still facing difficulties, consider checking for any broken type library references in your VBA project, as this may also affect language support.

Thanks for sharing the details. The VBA editor is old and does not fully support Unicode, but Windows can force it to use a font that supports Korean.

    Steps

    • Press Win + R, type regedit, press Enter
    • Go to:
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Visual Basic\6.0\Fonts
If the folder Fonts does not exist, create it
Microsoft Sans Serif MS Gothic Malgun Gothic
    • Set each value to a Korean-capable font name, for example:
      Malgun Gothic
    • Restart Excel/Word → reopen VBA.

The VBA editor normally uses legacy ANSI fonts. Adding the font mapping forces Windows to supply a Unicode font that supports Hangul.

See if this helps. If you need further assistance just let me know.

    Best regards,

    Kimberly
