    Hello Lois Guffey,

Thank you for reaching out. Chrome isn't really within our support scope here, but this is a quick help:

To remove Yahoo as your search engine in Google Chrome:

    • Open Chrome, click the three-dot menu (top right) and select Settings
    • Click Search engine on the left side
    • Under "Search engine used in the address bar," change it to your preferred option (e.g., Google, Bing)
    • Then click Manage search engines and site search
    • Find Yahoo in the list, click the three-dot icon next to it, and select Delete

If Yahoo keeps coming back, you might have a browser extension causing it — go to Settings > Extensions and remove anything unfamiliar.

For any other Chrome-related questions in the future, Google's support page would be the right place.

On the Microsoft side, if you ever want to try Microsoft Edge, it has built-in search engine management as well:

    • Open Edge, click the three-dot menu (top right) and select Settings
    • Click Privacy, search, and services on the left side
    • Scroll down to Address bar and search, click it
    • Under "Search engine used in the address bar," change it to your preference

Edge also comes with built-in tracking prevention and security features that help avoid unwanted search engine hijacking in the first place.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

In Google Chrome, Yahoo can be removed or replaced as the default search engine from Chrome’s own settings.

Since the provided context only covers Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer search settings, it only supports the following closely related guidance for Edge (in case Edge is being used instead of Chrome):

To change the default search engine in Microsoft Edge on Windows:

    1. Open Microsoft Edge.
    2. Perform a search in the address bar using the search engine that should become the default (for example, Google).
    3. Select Settings and more (… in the top-right) > Settings.
    4. Select Privacy, search, and services.
    5. Select Search and connected services, then Address bar and search.
    6. In Search engine used in the address bar, choose the preferred search engine from the list.

If the desired search engine does not appear, first perform a search with that engine in the address bar, then return to Settings and more > Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Search and connected services > Address bar and search, and select it from the list.
