Hello Lois Guffey,
Thank you for reaching out. Chrome isn't really within our support scope here, but this is a quick help:
To remove Yahoo as your search engine in Google Chrome:
- Open Chrome, click the three-dot menu (top right) and select Settings
- Click Search engine on the left side
- Under "Search engine used in the address bar," change it to your preferred option (e.g., Google, Bing)
- Then click Manage search engines and site search
- Find Yahoo in the list, click the three-dot icon next to it, and select Delete
If Yahoo keeps coming back, you might have a browser extension causing it — go to Settings > Extensions and remove anything unfamiliar.
For any other Chrome-related questions in the future, Google's support page would be the right place.
On the Microsoft side, if you ever want to try Microsoft Edge, it has built-in search engine management as well:
- Open Edge, click the three-dot menu (top right) and select Settings
- Click Privacy, search, and services on the left side
- Scroll down to Address bar and search, click it
- Under "Search engine used in the address bar," change it to your preference
Edge also comes with built-in tracking prevention and security features that help avoid unwanted search engine hijacking in the first place.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
