Windows10 - Unable to load the specified offline registry have - when rejoining the domain

I have a windows10 desktop that had a trust issue msg. I performed the remove and rejoin to the domain process. When I tried to rejoin it to the the domain, I received the error "Unable to load the specified offline registry hive". I followed the recommended steps of GPEdit to add the admin to the backup and restore files and directory local GPO, however the option to add was greyed out. I followed the steps to remove all domain pushed GPO settings from the system and tried this again. It is still greyed out.

Can anyone tell me a way to get the desktop rejoined to the domain WITHOUT rebuilding the system from scratch? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is a VP's desktop that I must get back online.

Thanks, Barry

    Hi BarryWells-5033,

As you have already tried the admin user GPEdit and GPO route, Please try resetting the security database.

    1) Open MMC
    2) Add Security Configuration and Analysis tool
    3) Right click Security Configuration and Analysis in the left pane
    4) Select open database
    5) In the new database, type in secnew.sdb, click ok.
    6) Select setup defltbase.inf as the template to import from C:\Windows\inf, click ok.
    7) Rightclick Security Configuration and Analysis in the left pane again
    8) Select configure computer
    9) Reboot the machine.
    10) Try adding the machine to the domain.

I hope this answers your question.
